Eric Lander

Eric Paul Lander, age 59, died on May 5, 2022 after a courageous 20 year battle with brain cancer. He was a graduate of Grand Ledge High School and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from The University of Michigan and Master’s Degree in Guidance and Control Systems Engineering from Stanford University. He married his high school sweetheart, Laurie Ann Morgan and was blessed with 37 years of marriage.

Eric loved Jesus, his family, and friends, and he was a beautiful example of a servant leader with his family, at church, and in the community. He joyfully gave by serving on mission trips, ushering at his church, volunteering at the church food and clothing bank, coaching many children’s basketball and soccer teams, tutoring children through the Whiz Kids Ministry, and organizing the AAS Guidance and Control Systems annual conference. He is survived by his wife, Laurie; their son, Daniel (Varintra) Lander of Saint Louis, MO; their son, Stephen (Katy) Lander of Chicago, IL; and their daughter, Eliana Lander of Highlands Ranch, CO. He is also survived by his siblings Amy Ayers of Grand Ledge, MI and Janet Lander of Potterville, MI and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his mom, Elizabeth VerPlanck and father, Walter Lander.

Funeral services will take place at Horan and McConaty Funeral Home at 5303 E. County Line Road, Centennial, CO 80122 on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 11:00 am. Lunch will be served for all at the funeral home’s reception hall following the service. Donations can be made in memory of Eric to World Vision or Samaritan’s Purse.
