Erik Paul Kristoffersen passed away June 2, 2018 while engaged in one of his favorite activities, cycling. He was born in Ames, Iowa, to Ruth (Sprecher) Kristoffersen and Thorvald Kristoffersen and grew up in Columbus, Ohio. Erik lived a full life, rich with explorations, music, andâof courseâfamily. He loved and was deeply committed to his wife and best friend of 38 years, Margaret (Stewart) Kristoffersen, or as he knew her, âPeg.â He was a master of the crossword. His sharp wit, his humor, and his legendary toasts will never be forgotten. For someone so impressively tall, Erik was a truly gentle man. And for someone who said little, he spoke volumes. Erik could say more by mailing a New Yorker cartoon clipping or an article youâd like than most could in a phone call. Erik will be remembered for his caring spirit, never-ending curiosity, thoughtfulness, and integrity. He spent more than 30 years as a project manager for ABB, but outside the office you could find him on a long bike ride, listening to the Saturday Met opera, hiking with his family, playing his guitar or mandolin, enjoying a slice of high-quality blue cheese or Danish black licoriceâall while wearing a distinctive, Akubra hat. Erik explored the world, journeying from coast to coast in the United States, living in Australia, traveling to many parts of the world. He lived an impressive life, but everything pales when compared to his legacy. Erikâs legacy will forever be his four children. Michael Kristoffersen and spouse, Katherine (Gonzales) Kristoffersen; Laura Ernst and spouse, Benjamin Ernst; Caroline Lavoie and spouse, Joseph Lavoie; and Paul Kristoffersen and fiancé, Hannah Hoganson. Erik worked selflessly and tirelessly so that his children could also explore the world, so that they might love music, and so that they might enjoy the warmth of family. Erik enjoyed the last few years as Grandpa to his beloved grandchildren, Elliot and Margot. Since June 2, these two have been curious if Grandpa is now a star in the heavens. The answer is yes. We love you, Erik. Friends are invited to join the family in celebration of Erikâs life at St. Johnâs Cathedral (1350 N Washington Street, Denver) on Friday, June 8 at 3 PM. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
