Ernest Paul Hansen passed away suddenly, but peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, November 12, 2012, at the age of 90 at Sky Ridge Medical Center. He was one of seven children born to Ernest and Myrtle Hansen in Dickens, Iowa. Paul was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and our best friend. He will be missed by all. Paul was known for his kindness, positive attitude, and always bringing a smile to everyone. Paul married Frances Elaine Herrig on September 5, 1942. At the age of 21, he enlisted in the Navy. On his return, he began his career in the agricultural field, living in Storm Lake, Iowa. Paul and his brother formed the Ferma Gro Company, dealing in feed additives. After working in agriculture for 30 years, he retired to Venice, Florida. The family owned a travel agency and had the opportunity to do extensive travel. He spent many hours volunteering on several boards. He was on the board of Grace Methodist Church and Loveland Center. After the family moved to Sarasota, Paul was very involved with Happiness House and Glenridge Retirement, serving on their boards. He was awarded certificates of contribution for his 50 years in the Masonic order and 50 years as a Shriner. Paul also received the Paul Harris award in Rotary. He leaves a magnificent legacy, enriching the lives of those who knew him. He will be profoundly missed but will be held deeply in our hearts.
