Ernest John ""Ernie"" Noto

November 2, 1926 — April 29, 2018

Ernest John “Ernie” Noto, 91, passed away on April 29, 2018. Ernest was born in Morgan County, Colorado and was fortunate to be adopted into the wonderful family of John and Grace Noto. Ernie grew up in North Denver and attended North High School prior to enlisting in the Navy in May, 1944. He was stationed on a distillation ship supplying water in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre until 1946. After World War II, Ernest worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk and a mail carrier in Denver from 1949 until his retirement. Ernie and his future wife, Mary Jane Petrocco, met in her hometown at the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool. Ernie and Mary Jane wed on May 6, 1961 and bought a home near Regis University where they raised their four kids. He worked extra shifts and overtime to put all four of his children through Colorado State University. Ernest had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. Ernie enjoyed fishing and hiking, and spending time in Colorado’s mountains with his family. His hobbies included stamp and coin collecting, working on cars, watching football, and making pancakes on Sunday mornings. Ernest is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; his four children John (Kelli), Janice Pryor (Mike), Gary, and Vincent; and his two grandchildren, Eric and Kevin Noto. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 14th at 10:30 a.m. at the Horan McConaty Funeral home at 1091 South Colorado Boulevard with a burial ceremony at 12:30 p.m. at Fort Logan Cemetery—north entrance access, Staging Area B.
