Ernest Alfred Parrott was born March 20, 1927 to Garnett W. and Christine G. Parrott in Fort Worth, Texas. Younger brothers were Charles, and George who lives in Arlington, Texas. Ernie attended elementary school close by and still corresponded with and attended reunions each fall with classmates. He graduated Valedictorian of his class at Fort Worth Technical School and was awarded a scholarship to Texas Christian University. After one year, toward the end of World War II, Ernie joined the Navy. He enlisted hoping to become a Navy Seal, but because of ear problems in youth was ineligible, so became a Seaman and proudly took a squadron through basic training before duty in the South Pacific. Ernie truly loved the Navy and told stories of experiences such as serving on a sea-going tug towing a dock back across from the far East to Hawaii, and on the battleship New Jersey. During the Korean War he was called back to active duty in the northern Atlantic. He credited the Navy with giving him a sense of the wonders of the world. He loved to travel. Ernie finished his education with a degree in architecture from the University of Texas in Austin. After beginning practice in Houston he became a principal in a firm in Salveston, Texas. In 1968 he and his family moved to Colorado where he worked with several firms. In the early 80's he worked for a firm in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and traveled the world. Ernie had wonderful memories of people and places. The past twenty-five years Ernie worked for the federal government at Lowry Air Force Base and for the Bureau of Land Management. Many projects were completed, the latest which he was very proud of was the construction of up-to-date accommodations for the forest fire fighters across the West. Ernie was a most generous and loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved children and telling stores and reading books. We miss him.
