Ernest Sartorio, 74, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, colleague and mentor, passed away on March 28, 2021.
Ernie, as he was known to his family and wide circle of friends, was born to Ernest Sr. and Agnes Sartorio on March 16, 1947 in Somerville, Mass. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, before completing his medical studies at Howard University. After moving to Colorado for his pathology residency, Ernie worked for more than 30 years with the Adventist hospital system and as a partner in a well-respected pathology group, retiring in 2016. Throughout his life, Ernie spent time sailing, traveling, golfing, scuba diving, watching hockey, and enjoying good food and even better wine.
He will be remembered and greatly missed by his wife of more than three decades Denise; sons Matthew, Andrew, Anthony and stepson Matthew and their partners; soon-to-be four grandchildren; and many beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Henry and first wife Marie.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Ernie may make donations to the Howard University College of Medicine or to their local animal rescue organization.
