Ernest Richard Schmidt

Ernest Richard (Dick) Schmidt, 71, of Littleton, CO and formerly Somerset, NJ passed away on April 27, 2011. Memorial Services will be held Thursday May 12th at 10:30am at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church (6673 West Chatfield Avenue Littleton, CO 80128), followed by interment in Littleton Cemetery. Dick, or Dickie as he was known in his childhood, had incredible enthusiasm for life, a wicked sense of humor and was full of laughter. He loved travel and cooking and was as loyal of a friend as they come. He attended Seton Hall University before joining the Army. After a 20+ year career, Dick retired in 2003 from Standard & Poor's as Managing Director, Financial Institutions. In retirement Dick enjoyed watching cooking and travel shows, and he put both to use by cooking masterpiece meals, visiting top restaurants, and jet setting around the world to sample what he'd seen. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and catching up with family and friends. He was a treasured father, brother and friend, and he will be sorely missed by all who were lucky enough to know him. He is survived by his sister Mary Ann Jacobson, daughter Kathy Peterson, son Kevin Schmidt, two grandchildren and 11 nieces and nephews.
