Ernst Herman Christensen, born July 6, 1930, passed away February 22, 2010 in Littleton, Colorado. Ernie Christensen was a hard working, dedicated and well respected leader in the community, who loved his family and friends very much. The eldest son of Danish immigrants, he grew up in Floral Park, New York, and attended Grand-View College in Iowa. Ernie worked as a carpenter and a Construction Superintendent on major construction jobs in New York. He relocated to Colorado in 1984, a long held dream for him, and continued working for E.W. Howell Company, Inc. as Vice President. Denver is where he met and married the love of his life, Shirley, in 1988. He retired in 1992 and said he loved retirement, ""Every day is Saturday"". He kept busy; one of his favorite activities was as a volunteer with the National Western Stock Show. He was a member of the Carpenters Union, Danish Brotherhood, Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, El Jebel Shrine, Ken-Caryl Ranch Townhouse Association, Inc., Western Stock Show Association, Silver Spur Club, and Ham Hock Combine. Ernie's interests included the great outdoors, hunting, and fishing. He is survived by his wife Shirley, daughter Leslie and sons John and Michael, Timothy and Terry Andrews and wives, 11 grandchildren, brother Harold, and family, including many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, March 18, 1:00 PM at South Suburban Christian Church, 7275 South Broadway, Littleton. Following the service, the celebration of Ernie's life will continue at 4:00 PM in the National Western Club at the National Western Stock Show.
