Eugene Philip Patrick William Joseph O'Malley passed away in comfort at his Brookdale Meridian residence on June 26, 2021, one day short of his 92nd birthday.  He is preceded in death by his wife Jackie, son Clark Irven and stepdaughter Denise Michael.

Eugene was born in Chicago, Illinois to Alvira and Clark Irven. He served in both WWII and Korea and after the war he worked as a Chicago Policeman, rising to the rank of Detective with assignments on the bomb & arson squad and bodyguarding visiting dignitaries, including Queen Elizabeth, Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. among many others. He met his wife Jackie, after a move to Lakewood and they owned and operated O'Malley's Carpets for over 40 years. O'Malley, a lifelong Democratic party supporter was elected to and served on the Lakewood Charter Commission, the group that set all the groundwork for Lakewood to become a city.  He belonged to many charitable clubs and organizations including past President of the Saint Patrick's Day Parade committee, past President of the International Footprinters Association, Sons of Italy, Sons of Norway, Elks, Moose, and many more, always active in participating.

He is survived by daughter-in-law Laurel Irven (Clark), Lynn Walsh and her husband Jim Walsh, granddaughter Jennifer Swaney (great grandchildren Tommy, Tyler, and Amaya) and granddaughter Vicky Kovac. Daughter Jeanie Sucec and her husband Joseph Sucec. Stepson Patrick Michael and his wife Debra White. Daughter Barbara Riley and her husband Michael Riley, granddaughter Sarah Vaughn and her husband Rob Vaughn (great grandson Landon). Son Philip Irven and his wife Julie, grandsons Michael and Christopher.

Eugene will be interred alongside his wife Jackie at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
