Eugene Wesley Rice

Beloved father, died on June 28, 2009 at his home. Born on May 2, 1924 to Madeline Gross Rice and Eugene B. Rice in Denver, CO. Gene married Kathy Logan on June 26, 1948. They raised 10 children. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Kathy; his parents; his sister, Madeline Philbrook; his brother, Elliott Rice; his brothers-in-law, William Bradley and J. Patrick Logan; his sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Logan; his sons-in-law, Bob McDonald and Richard Harris. Survived by sisters-in-law Jinny Bradley, Scharleen Logan, and Muralda Rice. Also survived by his children, Kathy Rice-Trumble (Chuck), Mary Beth Davis (Mike), Jeannette Walls (Lorrie), Gene Rice, Jim Rice (Joy), Patricia Lackner (Bob), David Rice (Lucy), Peggy Murray (Mark), Steven Rice, and Daniel Rice; 16 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Gene graduated from Regis High School in 1942. He served in the Navy during World War II. With his brother, Elliott, he owned and operated the family business, Rice Paper Box Co. He was a life-long member of Blessed Sacrament Parish. He volunteered in numerous organizations including Sertoma, Legion of Mary, Nocturnal Adoration Society, and many committees at Blessed Sacrament Church. Visitation will be at 5:00 Wednesday, with a rosary at 7:00 PM; Funeral Mass 10:00 AM Thursday, all at Blessed Sacrament Church, 4900 Montview Blvd. Donations to Denver Hospice, 501 S.
