Eugene L. Telgmann, 90, of Lakewood. Husband of Clara. Father of Cheri (Greg) Stimack, Lori (Andrew) Polakiw. Grandfather of 5. Great Grandfather of 3. Brother of Gerarda ""Tedee"" Swink. We will always remember⦠dad's famous spaghetti dinners, with many hours of preparation it would take all day to achieve the perfect flavor... Don't even touch that meat ball or I'll pop your fingers with this spoon! He was a wonderful cook that would often spend an entire day preparing a gourmet meal for the family. at the Courtyard he was known as the ""Dancing feet Gene"". You would often see Gene and Clara dancing to the dinner music. How he loved music, mostly from the big band era, but he also enjoyed opera. The love of music was possibly inherited from distant relatives who owned an opera house in Toronto, Canada. those summer vacations were always a must. There are wonderful family memories of vacations to Disneyland, Carlsbad Caverns, Phoenix and Glenwood Springs. He loved to travel, no matter the distance or destination. that there was never a better host at the family holiday parties, and all these special memories were well documented in his library of photography. At Christmas he loved to play Santa Claus when the girls were younger. The neighborhood kids had nothing on Gene, especially on Halloween he loved to dress up and greet the youngsters at the door. walks to the mail box singing his army cadence or Sundays walks to Bonnie Brae for a scoop of strawberry ice cream, his favorite flavor, then back to the house with an evening of Lawrence Welk. Old western movies were a favorite, but you could also find him watching the Muppets with the grand kids. Gene talking about his school years at Annunciation High School. He stayed active with the alumni association for years until the school closed. He edited and distributed the alumni news letter and was involved in numerous fund raising activities. his pride in being a member of the 18th Engineers Battalion stationed in the Aleutian Islands. He said it was so cold that he never warmed up in 4 years. How true that was, he would always wear a long sleeve shirt and sweater in the middle of summer. his interests that varied from collecting coins, stamps and polished rocks. He loved every new gadget that came on to the market. With some frustration, he still strived to learn how to use them. We always joked with him that he was born 20 years to soon to be able to enjoy the new technology. It didn't matter, he enjoyed his shopping sprees to Radio Shack to find the latest electronic gadget. he also had a love for the arts. He enjoyed taking classes to learn to draw and to paint. He built his own darkroom in the basement of his home and developed his photographs. He was ""photoshoping"" with pictures before there was Photoshop. He made some of the most creative greeting cards you could imagine. he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. So many memories from so many people will keep this special person alive in our hearts forever.
