Eugene D. Zimmerman

Eugene D. Zimmerman was born March 14, 1929 in Quapaw, Oklahoma. Later the Zimmerman family, which included brothers James, William and Juan, moved to Pittsburg, Kansas. Eugene graduated from Pittsburg High School where he excelled in track and football. Eugene moved to Denver, Colorado and went to work for the Gates Corporation. There he met fellow employee Mary Matson and eventually they were married. Eugene retired from the Gates Corporation after 43 years of service. Eugene and Mary were married for 63 years until Mary passed away on August 3, 2015. Eugene and Mary were also preceded in death by their daughter Linda Merl on March 13, 2014. Eugene was a member of the American Judo Club and the El Jebel Shrine. As a Shriner, Eugene was a member of the Nobel Cycles. He and Mary thoroughly enjoyed the company of the other Nobel Cycle members and the many cross country trips that always seemed to lead to unexpected adventures. Eugene will be missed by his family and friends and by those who knew of his sincerity and kindness. Memorial Service Thursday, February 25, 10AM at Windsor Gardens Centerpointe, 597 S Clinton St, Denver, CO 80247. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr, Tampa, FL 33607.
