Eugenia Switowy

Eugenia Switowy, March 10, 1921 – January 5, 2012, Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, godmother, and mother-in-law. Of Aurora, CO and Wauwatosa, WI. Entered eternal life on January 5, 2012 at the age of 90 years, surrounded by the family she loved. Born March 10, 1921 in Donetsk, Ukraine. Survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Alexander, their daughter, Lucy, and grandchildren, Lucinda and Gregory. Also survived by her nieces, Irene, of Moscow, and Marina, of Donetsk. Preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister in Ukraine and Russia, and her son-in-law, Lewis Ronald Cromwell, of Wauwatosa. Eugenia came to the United States in 1949, with her husband and daughter. She became a proud American citizen and a bookkeeper for several companies in Denver. Eugenia will be deeply missed by relatives, friends, and the many people she helped, supported, and inspired during her long life. She will be remembered for her compassionate nature and positive spirit. An avid reader, Eugenia could recite hundreds of poems from memory, to suit any occasion. Her gift with words spanned five languages and her love of poetry testified to her gentle soul. The family would like to thank the staff at Aurora Zilber Family Hospice for their attentive care and kindness. A Visitation will be held at Horan and McConaty Family Chapel (11150 East Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora CO 80014) on Friday, January 27, 2012 from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 6:00 p.m. A Mass will be held on Saturday morning, January 28, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic (4118 Shoshone Street, Denver CO 80211), followed by burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Wheat Ridge CO.
