Eugenia F. Winters-Lohnes

September 23, 1919 — March 22, 2006

Eugenia "Gene" F. Winters-Lohnes Born 9/23/1919 in Battle Creek/Meadow Grove, NE. Graduated from H.S. in 1935. Received RN Degree from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in 1940. Served in the US Navy as an Ensign in San Diego for 3 years. She married W. Dean Winters in San Diego 11/24/1942. They moved to Boulder, CO where she obtained her PHT degree (Putting Hubby Through). In 1947 they moved to Cedar Falls, Iowa where she gave birth to their only son, Scott. One month later they moved to Delta, CO where she became the Community Health and School Nurse for 23 years. In 1981 after the death of her first husband, she moved to Lake Charles, LA and lived there for 8 years. After which, she moved back to Colorado to marry Bob Lohnes, a family friend, in July of 1989 and lived in Loveland, CO until his death 2/12/1992. She then moved to Lakewood, CO to be closer to Scott, Cindy, Kristen and Stephanie. Gene died 3/22/06. Preceded in death by her brother, Clyde. Surviving is her brother, Bill (Orriene) Fender of Phoenix, AZ; son, Scott (Cindy) Winters of Lakewood, CO; 2 granddaughters (Kristen and Stephanie) of Lakewood, CO; 2 stepsons- Dave (Judy), and John Lohnes all of Loveland, CO; 3 step grandsons, 2 step granddaughters, 7 step great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association or the Little Sisters of the Poor.
