Eva Veronica Brown

September 7, 1918 — August 30, 2011

On August 30, 2011, Eva Veronica Arlesic Brown, 92, passed on to her Blue Heaven. Eva was born on September 7th, 1918 in the little town of Benld, Illinois. Her parents were immigrants from Croatia. There were seven children in the family. Five girls and two boys. Of these she has three sisters who survive her, Mary, Rose and Helen. She married the love of her life, Phillip B. Brown on November 18, 1944. They were both in the Army Air Corp and met on a blind date. They enjoyed sixty three years together before Phillip preceded her to heaven. She spent her last year in the loving care provided by Life Care Center Evergreen. When family would visit she would always pose the question ""Why am I still here?"" We would always respond by saying we need her to hug and she would smile. She would greet any visitor with that big smile of hers and we will all remember her for that sideways grin. Now I think we have an answer for her. They were painting heaven blue and trying to get just the right shade for her. Anyone who knew Eve knew of her love of the color Blue. Her clothes had to be some shade of blue or they were destined for the back of the drawer never to be seen again. Over the years whenever the carpets were replaced in the house it was always some shade of blue. She was forever with a brush in her hand repainting walls or furniture that perfect shade. This love was second only to her love of dogs named Pal. Over the years a string of dogs came through our lives always (with the exception of Susie, who didn't stay long) named Pal. Her last one went from banned from the living room to bed mate. He preceded her in 2009. I'm pretty sure Pal means Blue in some language! Eva had five children. Her first born, Bobby Joe, died when he was only 4 years old. She had two surviving sons, Thad (Sharon), and Phillip (Willie) and two daughters, Michelle and Barbara (Steve). She has ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She will be missed but we can all picture her and Phillip walking a Pal (or maybe several Pal's) in her Blue Heaven. Eva is survived by her children Barbara A. (Steve) Wood, Phillip Anthony (Willie) Brown, Thaddeus M. (Sharon) Brown and Michelle Marie McCracken; grandchildren David Brown, Justin Brown, Lauryn Brown, Haden Brown, Blake Brown, Thadeus Walker, Kathryn Walker, Jason Brown and Shawn Brown; five great grandchildren; and sisters Mary Thunhurst, Rose Heck and Helen Lang. She was preceded in death by her husband Phillip B. Brown; grandson Michael McCracken; parents Marko and Anna Arlesic; sister Anna Arlesic and brothers Michael Arlesic and Joseph Arlesic. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, 2:00 P.M., at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road (one block to the west of Holly Street), in Centennial, Colorado.
