Evelyn Nokes Porter

Evelyn Anna Porter, 99, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2020.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Horan & McConaty, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, CO, with a reception following services.

Evelyn was born December 31, 1920 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She moved with her family to Chicago, Illinois when she was one year old. She married William A. Porter in 1946, and the couple moved to Denver where she worked in banking and started her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband William A. Porter, brother Edward Nokes, and daughter Patricia Barger.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Bill Porter, Sherri York, Jim Porter (Martha) and Bob Porter; grandchildren, John York (Kristin), Jennifer Manns (Tyler), Kristie York, Amber Barger, Dawn Barger, Elizabeth Woods (Nathan), Catherine Porter, Julia Porter, and Shauna Nolte (Justin); and 16 great-grandchildren.

Her love of family extended to innumerable nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. All who knew Evelyn could always expect a card or invitation to a gathering, celebrating every holiday, birthday, and special occasion, or any excuse to gather family and friends whom she loved.
