Evelyn Smith

April 24, 1918 — August 8, 2017

Our mom passed away peacefully at home at the age of 99. She was a Colorado native born and raised on a ranch near Crook, Colorado. She spent most of her life in Denver, Colorado. She was preceded in death by our dad, Paul W. Smith, in 1968. Mom and Dad were active members of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church since 1949. Until recently, mom continued her active involvement and devotion doing many hours of volunteer work. Evelyn had a robust soprano voice and enjoyed singing in the choir at church, with the Jolly J's and the Colorado Chorale. She even had the honor of singing for the Pope; a memory she cherished. She worked at a variety of jobs after our dad died with the longest being with the State of Colorado until she was forced to retire at 75. Mom was quite a character, she loved to sing and dance and put on a show. She loved to dress up, carefully matching her outfits with shoes and hats and accessories. She was a shopper extraordinaire and loved a good bargain. Evelyn Smith is survived by her children: Pat (Don) May, Paul (Karen) Smith, Sharen Dains, Chuck Smith, Sandy (John) Coates and Bob Smith, along with 14 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Viewing at 9:00am, Rosary at 10:00am, and Mass will start immediately after the Rosary. Mom will be interred at Fort Logan with our dad. In lieu of flowers, mom would like you to sing a song, and whistle a happy tune. Put a smile on your face, as she would say ""it takes less muscles."" May her soul and souls of all the faithfully departed, rest in peace.
