Fay Vitalia Maes

September 18, 1920 — July 21, 2011

Vitilia (Fay) Marquez Maes was born Setpember 18, 1920 to Hilario (Lalo) Marquez and Frances (Kika) Baca in Los Vigiles, New Mexico. Fay was the eldest of 12 children. Hilario and Frances moved their family to Brighton, Colorado in 1928. Fay attended school in Brighton then the family moved to Denver and she attended Gilpin Elementary and Cole Junior High. Vitalia changed her name to Fay when she was 13. Fay married Adolfo Jose Maes on February 9, 1947 at Annunciation Church. Fay and Adolph had four children, Michael, Catherine, Elizabeth and Arthur. Fay was grandmother to eight, great grandmother to seven, and is survived by six brothers and sisters. Adolph and Fay were married 47 years. Fay and Adolph had many friends and family who enjoyed many outings and fishing trips together. They enjoyed friends and family around them. Fay had a warm heart, was a great cook and was always concerned about how she looked, her house being clean, how her yard looked, and her summer garden. Fay's home was always full of love and joy. Many will have fond memories of Fay's beautiful smile and kindness toward all. Visitation will be Monday, July 25, 2011 from 12PM - 7PM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3020 Federal Blvd. Recitation of the Rosary followed by the Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 2645 East 48th.
