Perea, Felicita Nelly
March 31, 1928 - June 13, 2020
Born in Lima, Peru, daughter of Raymundo and Teofila Perea. Beloved Mother, Mother- in - Law, Grandmother, Step Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Great Aunt, Friend, and Teacher. She was a woman of deep faith, very devoted to God and the Virgin Mary. Her greatest virtue was her love of family. She graduated in 1952 with a degree in History and Geography from San Marcos University in Lima, Peru. She was an educator by profession, retiring as a school principal from Augusto Salazar Bondi High School in Lima, Peru. With her constant love and encouragement her two sons grew up to become the professionals and good citizens she aspired them to be. She was an inspiration to all her family, friends, and colleagues who remember her soothing manners, her positive outlook, and her organized methods. Nelly lived a full and active life, taking part in all family and friends' celebrations, being the always youthful mother and grandmother, enjoying reading, Sudoku, travelling with family, the family historian, providing a unity force with her university colleagues, as an active member of her Parish Church in Lima, enthusiastic with her fellow seniors, using her knowledge of literature and language with her dear bilingual friends group. In her later years she travelled frequently visiting with her sons and sister in the USA before returning to her beloved city of Lima. Her 90 birthday celebration in March of 2018 was attended by about 100 family members and friends. She radiated joy and happiness being with so many of the people she truly treasured. Her last six months have been a testament to her strength, courage and her Catholic faith facing a terminal illness. She accepted it with the grace and magnanimity of the person of faith that she was. Her last words to her sons were:"" love each other and always be together"", echoing her philosophy for family togetherness. Surrounded by her family, while both her sons were holding her hand she took her last breath. She is survived by her son Jose Silva (Maritza), Adolfo Villar (Jennifer), two granddaughters, two grandsons, one step-granddaughter, one step-grandson, three great granddaughters, and her remaining sister. She will be dearly missed by all who came in contact with her.
