Filigonio Arellano

Filigonio E. Arellano, was born in Fort Collins, Colorado on January 5, 1944 to Filigonio Arellano and Magdelena (Trujillo) Arellano and passed away at the age of 79.

Following his service to our country in the US Army, he returned to Denver to earn an Associate degree in science from the Community College of Denver and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Metropolitan State College. During his time at Metro and following graduation, Filigonio was heavily involved in the development of the Chicano Studies department as a researcher and curriculum developer.   He then went on to establish a 35 year career as an employment counselor where he was highly respected for his work with single parents.

Filigonio will be remembered for his genuine love of life and his contagious laugh and personality.  To share his memories, he leaves behind Eileen Carlson; son Joshua Arellano, granddaughters Asia and Savanna Arellano; great grandchildren Marianna, August, Adrienne and Mayla Pogue;  daughter Jozan Buckley-Francisco, grandsons D. Kahoku Aki-Buckley, Tyler Thomas, Aulani Green, Noah Thomas, Kalamakua Buckley-Francisco and several Hawaiian great grandchildren; and, birth son Emil Weaver; sisters Mary Olmedo, Ramona (Ramon) Kelley, Magdalena (Jose) Aguayo, Pita Martinez and Rebecca Arellano; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins; and former wives Margaret and Heidi.

He is preceded in death by his parents Filigonio and Magdalena; brothers Walter, Ernesto and Phillip Arellano; sisters Carmel Alvarez and Virginia Southworth; son Sam Arellano; and, grandson Ricky-Lee Thomas.

Services will be held Tuesday, February 28 at Horan & McConaty , 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, Colorado.
Viewing will be from 2:00 – 3:00 pm with services starting at 3:00.
