Fletcher Brown

June 26, 1923 — February 5, 2013

Fletcher Brown passed away after a long illness on February 5, 2013 in Parker, Colorado. He was 89. He was born in Clay County, West Virginia on June 26, 1923 to Fletcher Brown, Sr. and Maude (Legg) Brown. As a young man, he worked the coal mines in West Virginia. After serving in WWII in the Army Signal Corps, he attended West Virginia University on the GI bill and received his BS in Electrical Engineering. He worked for American Cyanamid Co. for 38 years in several capacities in Bound Brook, New Jersey then became assistant plant manager of the Savannah, Georgia facility and then plant manager of the Marietta, Ohio facility. He retired to Winter Haven, Florida where he was an active member of Rotary and served as Rotary President from 1994-1995. He was a master gardener and enjoyed photography and coin collecting. He was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church and served as Deacon and Elder. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Bernice (Dykes) Brown; four children Eileen (Ken) Rafuse of Manorville, New York, Jim Brown of Canyon City, Oregon, David Brown of Lindenwold, New Jersey, and Camille Brown of Parker, Colorado; one brother Jack Brown of Belpre, Ohio; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 1:00pm at Hope Presbyterian Church, 2110 Cypress Gardens Boulevard, Winter Have, Florida 33884. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Porter Hospice, 5020 East Arapahoe Road, Centennial, CO 80122 or to Winter Haven Humane Society, 555 Sage Road, Winter Haven, FL 33881.
