Florence Lanell Smith Binford

Florence Lanell Smith Binford died peacefully Saturday, May 21, 2011. Florence was born July 2, 1924 in Houston, Texas. She was one of five children born to Ludwell Victor Smith and Emma Leontine Smith. She is survived by her sister Betty Norris of Houston, Texas, her children Lanell Paulette Kennemann and husband Peter of Aurora, Colorado, Mary Lou Howerter and husband Larry of Richfield, Washington and Thomas Hugh Binford and wife Gail of Billings , Montana. Her grandchildren are Wendy Brooke Kennemann Hamilton, Carrie Nissa Benson Goodwin, Blair Jones Binford and Michael Jones Binford. She has two great grandchildren, Matthew Dale Hamilton and Mallory Lanell Hamilton. Florence was a loving Christian mother and homemaker who had the true gift of southern hospitality. There was always room for one more in her home. A giving nature and sharp wit were characteristic of her. She was interested in and touched many people's lives, young, old, family and friends. She was an accomplished seamstress, a marvelous southern cook , was an active member and supporter of Girl Scouts in Houston and spent her 70th summer working at Old Faithful Lodge in Yellowstone National Park. She was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies. There will be a graveside service at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery, Houston, Texas, July 9, 2011.
