Flossie Mae Monticue

Flossie Mae Pompey Chavous Monticue left this life peacefully on August 27, 2013. She was born on September 10, 1931 in Calvin Township, Michigan. She was a graduate of Dowagiac High School Class of 1950 and moved to Chicago, IL shortly thereafter. She returned to Cassopolis, MI a few years later, married Andrew Chavous at age 22, had two children and settled in Cassopolis, MI. She worked in the Sheriff's Dept. and the County Treasurer's office. She divorced in 1973 and moved to Denver, CO. She married Bruce Monticue on April 5, 1985 in Las Vegas, NV. Flossie is a classy, warm, caring, kind, loving and an affectionate Sister, Mother, Grandmother and Aunt. She was a business owner (Wigs by Andre') in the early 70's. She enjoys sewing, singing, putting together puzzles, gardening, cooking, playing the piano, various crafts, caring for her 2 cats and 1 dog, flowers, rock hunting, traveling, and spending time with her family. In recent years and with the help of her caring niece, Terrie D. Herron, she became computer literate and enjoyed connecting with friends on Facebook. She has been a dedicated member of Jehovah's Witnesses since June 1959. She will be missed very, very much and we take comfort in the fact that she is free at last. She was the loving daughter of the late Casper and Zarah (Rickman) Pompey. She was preceded in death by her brother Charles E. Pompey on November 11, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Andrew Chavous on December 27, 1987 and her second husband, Bruce Monticue in July 16, 1997. Flossie is survived by her Aunt Waustella (Parker) Lawrence of Harrah OK, her Sisters, Rosalene (Fordyce) of Cassopolis, MI., Thelma (Rockett) of Aurora, CO., Dixie (Johnson) of Indianapolis, IN, Pat (Aloisio) of Cassopolis, MI., Violet ( Barber) of Elkhart, IN, Linda (Collins) of Mishawaka, IN , her Brothers, Leonard of Denver, CO., and LeRoy of Cassopolis, MI, her children, Zoe Ann Chavous of Aurora, CO., Timothy A. Chavous of Aurora, CO., her grandchildren, S. Simone Chavous of Aurora, CO., her grandson, Christopher A. Chavous of Aurora, CO and her loving daughter-in-law, J. Barbara (Price) Chavous. She is also survived by several loving nieces, nephews, cousins and even more caring friends. The memorial service for Mrs. Monticue will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 350 Laredo St., Aurora, CO 80011 on August 31, 2013 at 10:00 am.
