Floyd C. Brown

July 24, 1939 — June 10, 2020

Floyd C. Brown, 80, passed away on June 10, 2020, in Denver, Colorado ending his six-year battle with mesothelioma.

Floyd was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming on July 24, 1939, to J. Hugh and Virginia Brown. He spent most of his childhood in the Castlewood area and shared many stories of how much he loved growing up on the farm with his sister, Bonnie. He graduated from Cherry Creek high school in 1957. Floyd remained close friends with many of his elementary and high school friends throughout his life. He served in the army from 1962 to 1965 and was stationed in Vietnam from 1963-1964. He met the love of his life, Joyce in 1959, and they were married on May 29, 1965. They had their daughter, Diana, in 1974. Floyd worked as a corporate painter until he opened his own home improvement business in 1985. His greatest joy was when his grandson, Kenny, was born in 1996.

Floyd was a member of the Painters and Drywall Finishers Local Union No. 79. He was also an active member of the Mile High Buick Club until 2017. Floyd was an avid baseball fan who loved the New York Yankees and the Colorado Rockies. He was an active grandfather who spent many hours at practices, games, and performances as Kenny grew up. Floyd loved to travel and particularly enjoyed visiting Branson, MO. with Joyce and friends, spring training trips to Arizona, trips to South Dakota to visit dear friends, and family trips to Hawaii. He was always happy to get back home and work on the house, the yard, and his garden, and see the animals, most recently their cocker spaniel, Maggie.

Floyd is survived by his wife Joyce, his daughter Diana Simpson (Kevin), grandson Kenny Bottoms, sister Bonnie Rickel as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, J. Hugh and Virginia Brown, and sister Velva Sasse.

The family will be holding a celebration of Floyd's life in July.
