Floyd H. Galyean, 96, passed away August 17, 2024.
Floyd was born January 17, 1928, in De Buque, CO to the late Albert and Opal Galyean. He graduated from Colburn High School and joined the US Air Force in 1948, Upon completion of his active-duty service, he moved to Denver.
He began his career with the Denver County Sheriff’s Department in 1952, first in the county jail and then into admin. After admin he moved into the Managers of Safety Office followed by the Court Services Division. Floyd retired from the Denver Sheriff’s Department in 1988 as Division Chief with his final duties in the Denver County Jail-a full circle of his career in public service.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling with the 5th wheel, watching the Broncos and Rockies, woodworking, and stained-glass work.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ronald, and Howard; sisters, Betty, Genevieve, and Laura
Floyd is survived by his wife, Beverly, whom he married October 10, 1981; his brother-in-law Leonard Guida; sister-in-law, Dorothy Guida; God son, Alec Comito; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours for family and friends will be observed from 5pm-7pm Thursday, August 22 at Horan & McConaty, 3020 Federal Blvd, Denver, CO.
Recitation of the Rosary will be at 9:30am Friday, August 23 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 969 Ulysses St. Golden, CO with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Reception will immediately follow in the parish hall.
Graveside Service will follow at 1pm Friday August 23 at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
