Born to Bertha Emily (Bader) and Clarence Everett Ingalls in Colorado Springs. Attended Palmer High School (formerly Colorado Spring HS).
Grew up during the hardships of the Great Depression. Enlisted in WWII at age 19 to defend America's liberty (General Patton's 101st Airborne Division, 1944). Fought in France, Belgium, and Luxembourg, surviving the Battle of Bulge. Helped liberate the town of Vianden, Luxembourg, personally receiving a commendation of eternal gratitude from the Mayor of that town 50 years later.
Briefly attended American University in southern France immediately after the War. Graduated from the University of Colorado (1949) with a degree in Pharmacology, where he joined Sigma Chi fraternity and met his future wife, Winifred (Dick) Ingalls. She was the daughter of pre-eminent Denver attorney Lewis A Dick, early partner of the law firm which once bore his name and is today known as Sherman & Howard.
Worked as a registered Pharmacist in Denver for several years, then began a highly-awarded career in Pharmaceutical Sales with Eli Lilly & Company for 32 years (Albuquerque and Denver) until his retirement.
An avid golfer and voracious reader, Floyd enjoyed racquetball, handball, and bridge in his younger days and was a member of the Elks and Kiwanis Clubs, Albuquerque. He committed his later years to travel and volunteering for Denver Metro Caring as well as Presbyterian/St. Luke's and Rose Hospitals. Above all, he relished time with family.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Winnie, and his eldest son, Jeff. Surviving sons are Dr. Greg (Barb) and Richard Ingalls, and long-time friend and companion, Bob Turner. Seven grandchildren also survive him: Zachary (Amanda) and Courtenay (Mike) Davis; Allie, Ben (Molly), and Jack Ingalls; Peyton and Brady. Great grandchildren are Avery, Milena, Nash, and Eleanor.
Floyd will be remembered for his engaging smile and ready sense of humor, which often led to his trademark infectious laughter. He looked for the best in people and found pure enjoyment in the company of others.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, April 16, 1:00 p.m., at Wellshire Presbyterian Church, 2999 S. Colorado Blvd, Denver, 80222. Memorial gifts may be made to Wellshire, or to the Denver Dumb Friends League, 2080 S Quebec St, Denver, 80231.
