Frances A. Benallo

September 25, 1911 — January 10, 2008

Born to Czechoslovakia parents, Mary and John Turk, in Globeville, Colorado. Proceeded in death by husband, Jerry Benallo, Jr., her parents, three sisters, and four brothers. Frances attended Holy Rosary Grade School where she completed the 8th grade. Like all of her siblings, she was put out to work early in life to help support the family. However, Frances loved to read and tried to educate herself further through books. She met and married her husband, Jerry, and had one daughter Mariene. After marriage, she quit working to be a stay-at-home Mom and housewife. She was an excellent speller and spent many hours teaching Mariene to read, write and spell before Mariene entered first grade. Frances was a fiesty little lady and could be very head-strong and stubborn. Her one pet peeve was when someone asked her how old she was. Her reply, ""You should never ask a lady her age"" and she never told, but look out if you were the one who did the asking...she would make a mental note of it, and probably hold a grudge against you from then on. After many years of staying at home, she and her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Benallo, talked their husbands into renting a couple of acres of ground because they wanted to go into the farming business. They had them plant radishes, which they picked and sent off to the market to sell. Bob Benallo, Elizabeth's son, joined them and the three of them had the time of their lives. In later years, after losing her husband, her favorite pasttimes were watching TV, playing cards, and an occassional visit up to Blackhawk's gambling casinos. She always said she didn't like the ""slots""...reason was, she didn't like spending HER money, but, if you slipped ""your"" money into the machine, she was in ""hog"" heaven and could play for hours. She lived alone up until her death and never missed Mass except when her health no longer permitted her to attend. Frances leaves behind her daughter, Mariene, and son-in-law, Bill DeLuzio.
