Frances Ellen Pol

POL, FRANCES ELLEN Frances Ellen Pol, 82 of Denver, wife of Frank Pol and mother to Tina Longshore, Lori Watry, Liz Negrey, Barb Dohnalek, Michael Pol, and their spouses; also survived by her brother Fred Northcutt and 11 grandchildren, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016. A Funeral Mass will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 26, 2016, with a viewing one hour prior at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 1091 South Colorado Boulevard Denver, Colorado, 80246. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children's Hospital, Denver, Colorado at: https://www.childrenscolorado.org/community/donate-volunteer/donate/ As a nurse, Children's Hospital was close to Fran's heart. She supported Children's Hospital by donating 100's of crocheted caps to the program for children going through treatment. In the late 70's and early 80's, Fran helped support her own children and the local youth at the Original Scene run by Father Denny Dwyer. She spent many hours creating and sewing costumes for their productions, including My Fair Lady, the Music Man, and Fiddler on the Roof. After the last of their 5 kids left home, she went back to work as a nurse and picked up where she had left off 25 years earlier. Fran loved to learn new things and taught herself to crochet, knit, and quilt. During her final years, she spent many hours creating warm quilts and blankets and donating many of these to local cancer programs and hospitals. It gave her joy to give something that could put a smile on the recipient's face. Fran loved playing games with her children and their families and many happy hours were spent camping and gathering together for birthdays and holidays.
