Francesca Jane Axley

May 28, 1934 — September 4, 2013

Francesca Jane Axley, 79, of southwest Denver passed away on Sept. 4, 2013 after a long, courageous fight with Lymphoma cancer. She was born in Madison, WI on May 28, 1934 to Katharine and Ralph Axley, and is survived by her brother, Hartman; niece, Colleen; nephew, Timothy (Cynthia); grandnieces and nephews, Johanna, Kathryn, Daniel, Alexandra, and Luke. Francesca graduated from the Univ. of Wisconsin, Madison with a BA in French; Masters in French Education, Univ. of Colorado, Boulder; and an RN, Mesa College, Grand Junction. She taught French at Denver Country Day and Durango High School, was an RN in Grand Junction and Denver, and was also a family counselor in Denver. She was an avid musician, an accomplished cellist, and sang with the Galaxies. She loved gardening, skiing, sailing, and traveling. She was a member of the Univ. of Wisconsin Hoofers Outing Club. A Memorial Service will be held at First Plymouth Congregational Church, 3501 S. Colorado Blvd., Englewood, CO 80113 at a later date with a Committal of Cremated Remains to take place in Madison, WI.
