Francis (Frank) Mayer, age 75, died in his home in Westminster on November 16, 2024. Frank was born in Carroll, Iowa and grew up on the family farm near Willey. He graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in Carroll, Iowa. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served 4 years of active duty during the Vietnam War. He was discharged in 1974 having received the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars. He later moved to Colorado and attended Metropolitan State College while also working for the Union Pacific Railroad. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in December, 1976. While at the wedding of friends, he met his future wife, Jeanne. They married in 1979 and have three sons, Kevin, Michael, and Scott.
He was a licensed securities salesman and was employed by J. Daniel Bell & Company for seven years. He then became employed as a Business Analyst with Oppenheimer and remained there until his early retirement.
Frank enjoyed camping, gardening, skiing, home improvement projects and spending time with family. He helped his three sons achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, of which he was very proud. He is survived by his wife Jeanne, their sons Kevin (wife Krista), Mike (Emily), and Scott (Alyssa). As one of eleven, Frank is also survived by siblings Charlene, Janet, Ron, Carol, Darrell, Denny, Joni, and Kathy and many nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews. His parents, sisters Lois and Diane preceded him in death.
Funeral services will take place at Horan & McConaty in Arvada on Wednesday, December 4 beginning at 10:30am. Viewing will be from 10:30am to 11:30, followed by a chapel service ending at 12:30pm. A brief ceremony with military honors will take place at Ft. Logan National Cemetery at 2:00pm.
Memorial contributions may be made in Frank’s honor to the American Heart Association, the National Kidney Foundation, The Denver Hospice, or the Colorado Visiting Nurse Association.
