Francisca Castillo Rivera

Francisca Castillo Rivera, of Lakewood, Colorado, passed away April 19, 2019. She was born December 3, 1922 in Chihuahua, Mexico. She was a daughter of Faustino and Maria Liberata Cordova.

Francisca was a friend to everyone she met, both young and old, and everyone in between. She was compassionate, loving, patient, and giving, and helped anyone in need. All who knew Francisca, knew they were welcome in her home and when others needed her guidance, she generously shared her advice and wisdom.

Francisca was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a deep love of the gospel. She remained active in the Church until recent years when her health prevented her from attending. She loved to read and had a deep love for the scriptures and biblical archeology books. She taught Relief Society and Sunday School and as a teacher shared her love of the scriptures with many. Francisca had a special love for all people, but especially for members of her Church family. It was a common occurrence to hear Francisca referring to other women as Queen's and Princesses.

Francisca was gifted at hand sewing and at embroidery. She was also a big believer in home remedies. She had a great sense of humor and at times was known for being mischievous. She is loved and will be deeply missed by many.

Francisca is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rose and Clement Schaefer; grandson, Max Guajardo; great-granddaughter, Danielle Guajardo; and many other extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by husband Manuel Rivera.

A service will be held at 11:00am, on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 9800 Foothills Canyon Blvd., Highlands Ranch, CO 80129. A viewing will be held at the Church from 10:00 -10:45am.

Following the service, burial will be at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Littleton, Colorado.
