Lt. Col. Frank Wynter Allen, USAF, ret., 89, of Denver, Colorado passed away January 6, 2010, in Centennial, Colorado. He was born May 10, 1920 in Wadsworth, Ohio, to Otto Ellsworth and Olive Susan Yoder Allen. Frank was a combat veteran in WWII. He was a decorated veteran having received many awards, medals and ribbons: Distinguished Army Service Medal with Second Award, Distinguished Flying Cross with Second Award, Air Medal, Air Force Meritorious Service Medal with Three Awards, Asian Pacific Campaign, Air Force Longevity Award, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal with Two Awards, Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal. At Frank's Air Force service retirement, he held the position of Wing Commander. Following his Air Force retirement, Frank joined United Airlines as an instructor pilot. Frank is survived by his loving family; wife, Eileen Therese O'Meara Allen; her children, Bill Garrow, Nancy (Dale) Saunders, Mary Anne (Tom) Marranzino; 5 grandchildren, Jessica & Robert Garrow, Kathryn Saunders, Cole Livingston & Joe Marranzino; his nieces & nephews, Jennifer Glashaw, Linda Belonga, Mike Giar, Robert Stuart & Ginger Adamowicz. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Olive Allen, seven siblings, Dale, Dwight, Warren Allen, Thelma, Nina, Della & Faith A private service was held at Fort Logan National Cemetery with full military honors.
