Francis (Frank) Xavier Hopkins, 83, passed away peacefully at home in Denver, CO on June 17, 2007. Survivied by wife, Cheryl of 33 years and daughters, Christine (Fyffe) and Elizabeth (Shawn Carney) and grandchildren; Anthony, Nemi, Elise, Graci and Leah; also survived by children, Dennis, Jim (Debbie), Frank Jr., Debi (Greg) and Robert (Karyn); siblings, Joseph (Marita), Theresa (Bob), Paul (Helen), Betty (Bill), Eleanor(George); preceded in death by sisters, Ann and Mary. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Frank was born in Chelsea, MA to Dennis and Delia Hopkins on December 24, 1923. Frank grew up in the Boston area and moved to North Platte, NE after serving in the U.S. Army which he entered into on December 12, 1942. He is a WWII Veteran. He received American Theatre Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, 5 Bronze Stars, 2 Silver Stars and a WWII Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged on October 30, 1945 and was thereafter a private charter pilot. He operated his own collection agency, he was the owner of Frank's Phillip's 66 Station, grocery store manager, Metropolitan Life Insurance agent, Veteran's Club manager and a stay at home Dad. He was a Caregiver for his grandchildren. Frank retired as a Club manager at the Moose Lodge. He belonged to American Legion, Moose Lodge, VFW, Elks Lodge and DAV. Frank would like to be remembered as loving, kind and generous, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed people and loved to share his life experiences. He will be missed.
