Frank W. Kretzinger

June 20, 1922 — March 2, 2010

Frank Kretzinger was born in Corning, Iowa on June 20, 1922. He lived on the Kretzinger farm, not far from Corning, until he joined the Navy during World War II flying F6F Hellcats. His love of flying continued in his private life when he became a flight instructor. He remained active in the Naval Reserve, flying out of Buckley Airfield, and earned the rank of Lieutenant. He married Edna on October 2, 1944. Their daughter Linda was born on September 1, 1946. The family moved to Denver in 1954 where Frank worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Frank retired in 1981 from the U.S.D.A as the Regional Deputy Director. Frank and Edna enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping and spending time at their mountain cabin near Foxton, Colorado. They enjoyed living in Donna, Texas during the winter months and stayed at their home in Denver during the spring and summer. Frank and Edna enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren. Frank was always a very caring husband, father and grandfather and a friend to many. He was fond of all animals, and a dog or cat was always a member of the Kretzinger household. Frank was preceded in death by his wife Edna. He is survived by his daughter Linda and son-in-law Don Palmer; grandchildren Stacey (Tom) Smith, Krista (Trent) Johnson and Adam Palmer; great grandchildren Landon, Clayton and Breckyn; sisters Joyce Reynolds and Jaris Holbrook; and brother Jack Kretzinger.
