Frank Rodriguez, 92, of Thornton, CO
Frank was born in Platteville, Colorado to Manuel and Mary on December 3, 1931.
One of thirteen children, he started his working life at the age of 8 picking tomatoes and cucumbers in the fields. He graduated from Platteville High School and then joined the navy. He was a very proud Korean War Veteran having served aboard the ship U.S.S. Brinkley Bass DD-887.
After leaving the navy, he found a government job at the Air Force Finance Center.
During this time, he met and married the love of his life Ruth Contreras in the Rainbow Ballroom. They had 5 children: Diane (Ruben), Timothy (Erika), Ruby (Frank), Frank (Anna) and John (Christine).
After the Finance Center, he worked for the United States Postal Service and retired after 35 years. He went on to work part time for H&R Block for an additional 16 years. Frank also drove a yellow cab as a part-time job on occasion.
Frank loved to travel. After retiring, he lived in Phoenix and San Diego but decided they were a little too hot, so moved back to Colorado. He also took up woodworking.
He attended his Naval Ship Reunions for 18 years in a different city every year.
He was a member of the Honor Guard at the GI Forum, currently the Mile High Veterans Club.
He loved to bowl, dance and go out for breakfast. He loved spending time with his friends, family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Ysabel, Bertha, George, Manuel, Daniel, Pete, Robert and John and his son Timothy.
He leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and good friend Louise.
He will be greatly missed and loved forever.
