Fred Torkelson

February 23, 1925 — June 10, 2009

Fred Torkelson, 84, of Denver, passed away June 10, 2009. He was a retired Assistant Chief of the Denver Fire Department and a retired Chief Baliff of the Aurora Courts Marshal's Office. A World War II Veteran, Fred served as Lieutenant Commander in North Africa for the Merchant Marines. Preceded in death by his beloved wife Dolores. Survived by his son Gary (BeverlyAnne), granddaughter Kira (Jay) Zimmerman, sister Twila, brother-in-law Joe (Erlene) Riccardi, niece Sharon (Jack) Seawell, and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Service to be held Thursday, June 18, 2009, Noon, at Horan & McConaty, 1091 South Colorado Boulevard, Denver. Interment to follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 2:15 PM, Staging Area ""C"". In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association/Colorado Chapter, 455 Sherman Street, #500, Denver, CO 80203 or the charity of your choice.
