Fred Perry Wood was born in Parshall, Colorado September 30, 1924 to George Herbert Wood and Lillian Russell Smith Wood, and passed away at his home in Centennial, Colorado on January 25, 2014 at age 89. He was a decorated World War II veteran serving as a member of the 446th Bomb Group as a tail gunner on a B-24 Liberator. Fred is survived by Mary, his beloved wife of 67 years, his children Norman (Sue), Richard, Marilyn (Ron), Stephen, Deborah (Ray), George (Linda), Regina (Doug), Theresa (John), Tom, and Kimberly (Chris), his grandchildren, Michael, Tracey, Christine, Brad, Jeff, Katy, Anna, Joe, Steve and Kiefer and his great grandchildren, Dana, Hayden, Lily, Jacob, Amelia, and Sam. Fred is also survived by his brother Frank and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, seven brothers and four sisters. Visitation will be held Wednesday, from 5PM - 7PM followed by the Rosary at 7PM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5305 East County Line Road. The Funeral Mass will be Thursday, 12:00PM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 8035 South Quebec Street. Interment will follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
