Reverend Frederick Andrew Skov

The Reverend Frederick A. Skov, 88, of Aurora, CO went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, July 22, 2019, at Balfour at Stapleton in Denver. CO.

Pastor Skov was born in Brooklyn. NY on April 1, 1931. to the late Rev. Bunde Villadsen and Emma Mueller Skov. He married Norma Jean Breitenstein on July 31, 1955, in Brentwood, Missouri.

After graduating from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO, Pastor Skov was ordained on Aug. 21. 1955, in Onida-Agar, SD. He served as pastor at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Agar, SD (1955-1958), St.

Paul’s Lutheran Church and Peace Lutheran Church in Slater, MO (1958-1960), Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Lawrenceville, IL (1960-1965), St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Milan, IL (1965-1993), and Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bennett, CO (in retirement).

In addition to being a minister of the Gospel, Pastor Skov served for several years as a Vice President of the Central Illinois District of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod.

Pastor Skov also had a passion for aviation and obtained a private pilot license in 1974.

Pastor Skov is survived by his wife, his daughter, Sharon (William) McManus of Aurora, CO, his son, Steven (Kathleen) Skov of Cary, NC, eight grandchildren and three great grand-children, a brother, Rev. Richard (Sherlene) Skov and a sister, Margaret Skov.

Pastor Skov was predeceased by his step-mother Greta Platzer Skov. three brothers, John, Robert and Raymond Skov and a sister, Elinor Skov.

A memorial service will be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 11453 E. Wesley Ave., Aurora CO. 80014 at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Horan & McConaty, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave, Aurora, CO 80014.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to The Parkinson’s Foundation, Colorado Visiting Nurse Association Hospice. or your favorite church or charity.
