Fred Thomason, 90, of Denver died March 17, 2007. He was born in Minneapolis, MN to Carl and Frances (Stiarwalt) Thomason and grew up in Casper, WY, a boon oil town. His father was the Natrona County Clerk and his mother was a talented pianist and organist. He graduated from Natrona High School and attended the university of Wyoming, graduating in 1939 with a BS in Electrical Engineering. During WWII he served as a Captain in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theatre. Following WWII he workeed for the Bureau of Reclamation for 30 years as a Mechanical Engineer. He was an avid historian of the American West and had an extensive collection of books and paintings of that era. He valued honesty and hard work. He believed that friends were the most important thing in life, and that an individual's energy will remain after death. He lived totally independently in his home, where, after a brief illness, he died as he wanted to, surrounded by family and friends. He is survived by his older brother, James Richard Thomason; niece, Carol Thomason; and great nephew, Nicholas Folly. Committal of Cremated Remains, Monday, April 2nd, 2:30 PM, Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd. Meet at Staging Area "B" by 2:15 PM.
