He attended schools in Nebraska, Kansas and Colorado, graduating from East Denver High School in 1959 and received BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Denver. One of the projects he worked on at Martin was the Tethered Satellite System. Fred and JoAnn celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2014. During their life together, they enjoyed traveling throughout the world, gardening and cheering on the Rockies and Broncos. Fred particularly enjoyed baseball, going to spring training and regular season games and he had attended a game at each of the 30 MLB ballparks. In addition to being a sports fan, Fred also volunteered at events such as the Jefferson County Library Book Sales and the American Heart Association's Heart Walk. Around home, he built and maintained a backyard fish pond stocked with koi. For many years, he and JoAnn had Dalmations for company at home. Photography was also a favorite hobby of Fred's, from high school days until the present, which fit well with his interest in traveling. Fred will be missed by many people that he had known in the Denver area as well as throughout the country .
