Fritzie Oaks

December 4, 1925 — October 5, 2012

Fritzie Oaks, 82 of Arvada (formerly of Aurora) Colorado went home to be with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ, on October 5, 2012. Fritzie was born in Dowagiac, Michigan. She graduated from the University of Western Michigan with a degree in English. She was married to Omer Oaks and they spent the early years of their marriage in the Azores, Washington D.C., Germany, Georgia, and Italy. After Omer retired from the Air Force they settled in Colorado in 1965. Fritzie worked as a full time substitute teacher at Aurora Central High School in 1967, an administrative assistant at Faith Presbyterian Church from 1968-1976 and at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes from 1976-2010. She was very involved in her church, the Boy Scouts of America and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is the mother of Ron Oaks, mother in law of Julie Oaks and grandmother of Hannah and Davis Oaks. She was preceded in death by her husband Omer Oaks, parents Lyle and Helen Cox, and sister Shirley O'Connor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Hospice Care of Boulder & Broomfield Counties; 2594 Trailridge Drive East; Lafayette, CO 80026; 303.449.7740. A Memorial Service for Fritzie will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2012 in the chapel at Cherry Hills Community Church, 3900 Grace Blvd.; Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
