Garold Dwight Bauer of Denver passed away on June 2, 2020. Gary was born on May 20, 1948 in Holyoke, Colorado to Albert and Vera Bauer, née Eichele. He was raised in Denver and has resided in Littleton, Colorado for the last 39 years.
Gary went to school in Denver and graduated from North High School in 1966. He earned his B.S. in Accounting/Management from Metropolitan State College in 1972, and earned his Masters of Accountancy from the University of Denver in 1982. He was also a Certified Public Accountant and a licensed Real Estate Agent and Broker.
Gary married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Janet Marie DeLisa in 1967. Gary spent the first half of his career with Holnam Inc. (formerly Ideal Basic Industries, Inc.), in Denver, which included a three-year stint in Alabama for him and his family, along with weekly travel after moving back to Colorado. The second half of his career was in Real Estate, including Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, and Perry and Butler.
He was a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. He was a strong, loyal, and ambitious man devoted to his family and community. He could be depended on for help and advice. He was generous with his time and his resources to anyone in need. He was passionate about the Real Estate world and spent many hours on various committees and boards and working on various projects or reports. He made friends with everyone and loved talking to people.
Gary loved to drive. Getting in his car and running errands or doing the family shopping was his form of relaxation. His granddaughters were the light of his life. There was nothing he would not do for them. He would often stop at many different places for food just so each of his girls would get exactly what they wanted. He loved country music videos and would spend time watching his favorites, Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan.
Gary could be found at 4am most mornings in his office on the computer playing mahjong or on the newest iPhone reading the news or going over the latest real estate stats. He would then find his way to visit and tend to his mother for a while on most days. In the afternoons there is no telling where in the Denver Metroplex you might find him, but without a doubt you would find him talking to someone in the community, be it a restaurant owner while trying out a new place for lunch, the owner of a new business in town, a meeting with his real estate group, or his sister reminiscing about old times.
Gary was a caretaker. He took care of everyone. He took care of his immediate family, and in later years Janet's Uncle Teddy, and for the last several years, until her passing in October of last year, his mother. He took care of his family, friends and neighbors alike and he took care of business.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Albert and his mother, Vera. He is survived and forever loved by his wife, Janet M. Bauer, née DeLisa, son, William A. Bauer, daughter, Tiffany M. O'Leary, née Bauer, sisters, Deborah D. Edmisson, née Bauer and Diana L. Ryan, née Bauer.
He will also be fondly remembered by his surviving grandchildren, Katherine M. O'Leary and Natalie M. O'Leary.
