Garth Henry Rudd, 89, passed away Saturday, 5 November, 2005, at the home of his son, Gary L. Rudd in Parker, Colorado. He was born 23 January 1916 in Parker, Idaho to George F. and Esther Jackson Rudd. He was the third of their nine children. Garth grew up in Parker, Idaho, attended Ricks Jr. College in Rexburg, Idaho and graduated from Utah State Agricultural College in Logan, Utah before going to Pocatello, Idaho in 1929 where he met his sweetheart, Emma Leah Swallow. They were married 24 August 1940 in the Salt Lake, Utah LDS Temple. They resided in Pocatello and Boise, Idaho until 1941 when Garth was drafted into Military Service. After training in Medford and Corvallis, Oregon he served in Italy with the 91st Infantry Division before being released from Military service. Garth and his wife lived in Boise, Idaho and for 21 years in Portland, Oregon before coming to Denver, Colorado where he served as the Director of the Denver Service Center for the Bureau of Land Management until his retirement in 1975 after 36 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Leah, his son Gary L. (Patricia) Rudd of Parker, Colorado; son Alan D. (Debra) Rudd of Salt Lake City, Utah and a daughter Elaine (Donald) Watts of Lakewood, Colorado, 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, brother Dell (Alice) Rudd of American Falls, Idaho, sisters Rulu Josephson of Eden, Utah and Kona (Jay) Hammond of Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was preceded in death by two sons, Dennis and Garth who passed away soon after birth, his parents, two sisters and three brothers. Garth was an active member of the LDS church and served as a Bishop, Stake President and Temple worker. A viewing will be held at Horan & McConaty, 3101 South Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, on Wednesday, November 9th, from 4:00-7:00pm. Funeral services will be held in the LDS Chapel on West Dartmouth in Lakewood on Thursday, November 10 at 11:00 am. Interment will be in the family plot in Parker, Idaho on Saturday, November 12, 2005.
