Gary Lee Dickinson

September 17, 1937 — February 28, 2012

Gary Lee Dickinson was born September , 17, 1937 to Harry and Velma Ward Dickinson of Martin, South Dakota. He graduated from Bennett county High school in 1955. He went on to study at CSU where he was commissioned as an ROTC officer and graduated with his Bachelors of Science. After college He set off to travel Europe by motorcycle before taking a position with the Army. He traveled the world with the army enjoying an extended placement in Germany. In 1974 Gary returned with his family from Europe to work at the Pentagon. He was awarded a Bronze Star for his work in the Army. In 1982 Gary chose to return to his home town Martin and take over his family farm. Gary was married to Lea Danielson from 1964-1998. Together they had three sons. He has lived in Aurora for the past 16 years. Most recently, he enjoyed working for Dish Network. He was also an active member of Congregation Yeshuat Tsion Synagogue. Gary was very proud of his sons and his grandchildren. He is survived by Paul Dickinson and his wife Lori of Sheridan, Wyoming, Matthew Dickinson of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Jesse Dickinson of Aurora, Colorado. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Isabella and Henry of Sheridan, Wyoming. The Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 9, 2012, 2:00 PM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3020 Federal Boulevard in Denver, CO. A Graveside Service will be held Friday March 30, 2012, 1:00 PM at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, South Dakota.
