Gary Cyril Van Lake, age 64, died peacefully at home with his daughters by his side on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, eight years to the day after the passing of his loving wife of 32 years, Bev. Born January 25, 1953 in Lovell, Wyoming, he grew up in Frannie, Wyoming and moved to Denver in 1974. After living in Heritage House nursing home, he helped pioneer independent living for people with disabilities by moving into his own apartment and receiving home health care. He met his wife, Beverly Moyer, and together they worked in home health and raised a family in Southwest Denver. Survivors include his mother Shirley Van Lake of Frannie, Wyoming, daughters Brittany (Robert Sorensen) Van Lake of Denver, Colorado, Wendi (Mark Vakoc) Van Lake, granddaughters Cora and Macy Vakoc of Evergreen, Colorado, siblings Connie (Jim) Gill of Worland, Wyoming, William (Lori) Van Lake of Frannie, Wyoming, Jacque (Terry) Bly of Pinedale, Wyoming, Terry (Jenny) Van Lake of Frannie, Wyoming, and numerous nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his father Jack Van Lake and wife Beverly Van Lake. Services will be held at 11am Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Horan & McConaty, 3101 South Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80227.
