Gary Paul Robbins was born in Illinois in 1943 to loving parents, Ruthella and Thomas Robbins. His childhood was an adventure across Missouri, Arizona, and New Mexico, where he cultivated the values and resilience that would define his life. After graduating high school, Gary answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the Navy, embarking on a journey that molded his steadfast dedication and character.
In 1964, Gary’s life changed forever when he met and married the love of his life, Helen Marvia Johnson. Together, they built a home filled with love, faith, and joy, raising four cherished children: Thomas, Angela, James, and Andrew. And a legacy of beautiful grandchildren: Ben, Alex, Ehren and Paul.
A lifelong learner, Gary earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business from Eastern New Mexico University, which led him to a fulfilling career as a teacher and football coach. But Gary’s greatest calling came in 1974 when he answered the Lord’s invitation to pastoral ministry. His unwavering faith and boundless compassion inspired countless lives as he served in various roles, including as the founding senior pastor of Bible Chapel in Louisville, CO. His devotion to God was the cornerstone of his life, guiding his every step.
Gary was a man of simple joys and profound wisdom. He found delight in the competition of a football game, the laughter around a card table, serene mountain trails, and the beauty of music. His quick wit, warm humor, and unshakable faith left an indelible mark on everyone blessed to know him.
Though his presence will be deeply missed, Gary’s legacy of love and faith lives on in the hearts of his family and friends. As he is now welcomed into the arms of his Savior, Gary would urge us not to grieve, but to celebrate the promise of eternal life.
May we honor his memory by living with the same faith, grace, and joy that Gary embodied so beautifully.
