Gary John Schultz

April 4, 1948 — January 13, 2019

Gary John Schultz, age 70 of Aurora, CO passed away on the 13th of January, 2019 at Porter Adventist Hospital from complications due to cancer. He was born April 4, 1948 in Gainesville, TX to Thelma Borsting and John Schultz.

Gary is survived by Julie, his loving wife of 49 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thelma and John, and his siblings, Andrea and Wesley. Gary is survived by his children, Andy (spouse: Jenn), Ben (Danielle), and Leah (Pete), and his four grandchildren, Olivia, Abbey, Lucy, and Jay.

Gary served in the Army during the early 1970s as a computer programmer stationed in Heidelberg, Germany where his oldest son, Andy, was born. After his service, he was hired as a programmer by Honeywell in Minneapolis before he took a branch manager position in New Orleans. A short time later he was hired by a new business in Pittsburgh called LINC where he developed all of the programming necessary to support the company's HVAC franchise businesses. After 7 years, he accepted a managerial position in the Denver office of Continental Mechanical Systems. He continued his career working for the company, which changed names and ownership several times, until his retirement in 2012. His coworkers lovingly referred to him as ""Uncle Buck"" due to his conservative spending practices in the company.

Gary was a member of many golf clubs beginning with his service years in Heidelberg. His passion for golf was something, which dictated housing and vacation choices. He traveled to many famous courses in England and Scotland, including the old course at St. Andrews with his wife. He found immense joy and beauty on the golf course and endowed both of his sons with a love of the game as well. He was an avid gardener, with the most beautifully landscaped and meticulously cared for yards in the neighborhood. He loved music, in particular singing and playing the guitar. He was an active member in several clubs and activities at his home in Heritage Eagle Bend, including bocce, the chorale, and the Hackers and Whackers Golf Group.

Gary made many friends in various places and they and his family are missing him greatly.
