Gary Smith

Gary Lee Smith, 74, of 1633 S. Laredo St., Aurora, CO, also known as Papi, was born September 27, 1947 in Hagerstown, MD.  He passed away on Sunday morning, August 21, 2022 at home with his family.  Gary was the son of the late Raymond George and Naomi Ruth (Shoop) Smith.

Gary graduated from Massanutten Military Academy and Columbia School of Business.  He retired from Mr. Tire in Hagerstown, MD to spend his final years with his sons. He was a former member of the Chewsville Lions Club. He was a student and member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Gary was a man of extraordinary abilities and enjoyed traveling throughout the country and loved his time camping in the Colorado Mountains. Papi always had a story to tell, loved his boats, shooting pool and had more courage than the bear that ran away from him outside of Aspen.

Gary is survived by his sons Gregory Raymond Smith, Christopher Dean Walston (Heather) and two grandchildren David and Kaitlynn.

Cremation will be engaged by Horan and McConaty of Aurora, CO.

A Celebration of Life will be at a date to be determined. Interment may occur at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown, MD.
