Gary L. Wolseth, 77, of Aurora, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 26, 2017 in the Medical Center of Aurora surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 5, 1939 in Fargo, North Dakota he was the son of the late Sylvester L. and Inga (Hoiland) Wolseth. Gary grew up on the family homestead in Wolseth, North Dakota. He graduated from Minot High School in 1957. In 1959, Gary joined the US Army, serving as a courier and later a communications specialist in Eritrea, East Africa. Upon discharge from the military, Gary moved to Minneapolis and worked for a civil engineering company. He married Sharon Wolseth and began a family. In 1977 he settled in Colorado, where he later opened his own engineering consultancy firm. Gary was an avid sportsman throughout his life. He enjoyed trout fishing, fly-tying, and trap shooting. In his retirement, Gary discovered a vocation for woodworking and furniture making. He built replicas of antique pieces and rehabilitated antique furniture. Gary was a devoted father and grandfather to his two children, Jon and Kari, and three grandchildren, Isabel, Evelyn and Lindsay. He was a loyal and steadfast friend, having several life-long friendships. His kindness and compassion for others was evident in all that he did, and they way he lived his life. He was proud of his Norwegian heritage and North Dakota roots. Survivors include: Kari Hamilton and her husband John, Jon Wolseth, Sharon Wolseth, Isabel Bordewyk, Lindsay Hamilton, Evelyn Hamilton, Ron Wolseth and his wife, Judy, Dennis Wolseth and his wife Laura, Sheryl Burke and her husband, Jack, Michael Burke, Patrick Burke, Derek Burke, Nathan Burke, Jeff Wolseth, Tim Wolseth, Karnell Johnson, Audra Koester-Thomas, Barbara Amy. He is preceded in death by Marnell Ell. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 10AM, followed by a service at 11AM, and a reception at 12PM at Horan & McConaty HeartLight Center, 11150 E Dartmouth Ave. Aurora, CO 80014. Burial with military honors with be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 2:30PM, 3698 S Sheridan Blvd. Denver. Please meet at Staging area B.
