Gene Paul Robinson, 97, of Arvada, Colorado, passed away September 14, 2017 after living a long, full life. He was born February 1, 1920 in Danville, Illinois to Ben Carl and Zora Songer Robinson. Gene loved to fly. During WWII, he was a flight instructor in the Army Air Corp and for the rest of his life, it was one of those things that truly energized him. Besides his passion for flying, Gene had an incredible love of music. He grew up in a home where his mother played the organ and his father sang in the choir, so Gene learned to sing and has been singing for most of his life. Even at the end, as his family would visit him, they would find themselves singing old songs, and Gene joining in with his tenor voice and often in harmony. He also had a special love for Jazz music and attended as many jazz performances as he could. Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Eileen Mendenhall Robinson. He is survived by their two children, Sue Robinson and Paul Robinson; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his only brother. Gene will privately be laid to rest with his beloved wife at Fort Logan National Cemetery. A private celebration of his life will also be held.
